Here is the GHOULI teams personal review and opinion about the Stone Lion Inn, Guthrie Oklahoma.

Stone Lion Inn & Ghost Hunting

UPDATED 10-2007

Watching the news last night I noticed a nice "teaser" as the station mentions once again the Stone Lion Inn.

I was curious to see "who" was representing the Inn this year. I will say this, I was very proud to see that no OKC or metro area team had his or her faces plastered in this little segment but I did hear something that was rather shocking.

The owner once again lied to the camera and the viewers. Local team OKPRI debunked the story of the "little girl ghost", what, 2 years ago? The owner continues to lie about this haunting to the media and to her guests. The Stone Lion Inn is not the best or high quality B&B in the state.

Why do I care? I don't really. But I do care when I see history being invented for the almighty dollar. Nothing is wrong with sugar coating fact to make it more entertaining (if that is your business) but flat out lying, after it has been debunked? That is just wrong.

So, while I am at it.... I want to finally give the teams who have spent time at the Stone Lion who were pretty much were thrown in the hamper like a dirty towel on National Television.

TAPS/aka SciFi's "GhostHunters" did a segment at the Stone Lion Inn with the OKPRI. The owner stated "no other team has ever investigated or has been able to get evidence at the property before TAPS". First, TAPS was not the first and only team to investigate at the Stone Lion Inn. The following teams have spent time, collected great pieces of evidence and witnessed some type of activity. In no particular order here are the reputable teams who were able to help the owner of the Stone Lion Inn BANK on her "ghosts" over the years.

GHOULI, PITT of Tulsa, OKPRI, MetroPlexParanormal, OkGhostPatrol & EerieOk.

I am positive I have Missed some teams... if I did, please contact me.

I love the final quote from her "Actually, I think a lot of our business has nothing to do with ghosts at all. It's political,"

When I read this, I had to chuckle a bit because this once again, is a lie. I personally visit B&B's as much as I can and I know how to spot a good one. First, the  B&B needs to be clean. The Stone Lion Inn is not the cleanest of B&B's. While being the unspecified "pesky good for nothing ghost hunter" you have a chance to see behind the scenes, in the kitchen and so on. I wont get into a lot of details about the dirt but perhaps the "ghosts" like it that way?  As for 4 star B&B's go on that level? I give it a 1.5.  Clean, fresh and comfortable is not the Stone Lions forte'. The pure overkill of creepy over rules comfort in all aspects of a B&B. The manipulative efforts of paranormal impression are rampant in this B&B. You are surrounded by spooky, spooky is encourage, therefore you will witness spooky.

Back to the quote:

The owner does owe some local teams credit. For starters, her B&B is linked up to many local teams. When you google the B&B ghost hunting groups pop up above or under her website. This is free advertising for her and it makes people want to stay more.

I personally do not want anything from the Stone Lion Inn these days. We have investigated it and witnessed some unusual things. I have not recommended anyone visit or investigate the Stone Lion Inn for years. But we all know that her "murder mystery dinner" is not stellar enough to bring in travelers. I have talked to people who have participated in the dinners and they have stated to me (and on local radio) that the dinner is "ok". We were also told that she continued dinners that were under booked, the food was questionable and the service was cold, on top of guests having to play many different "characters" which was stupid and not worth the money she charged. If the owner wants to think this kind of service is bringing people to her door, she is dead wrong.

In no way am I assuming that her kids college education came directly from "ghosts" or the ghost hunting teams who have spent time there... but I will say it sure the hell has helped. She advertises the Inn as "haunted" everywhere. Without the "ghosts" the B&B is not worth the room rental. The murder mystery dinner works because nobody else in Oklahoma does them. It is simple marketing.

The Stone Lion Inn is NOT the only "haunted" hotel or B&B in the state of Oklahoma. A lot of good teams out there are sick of hearing the false representation about this Inn. The story is not fact or even close to it. The "little girl ghost" actually grew up and grew old according to OKPRI's findings & research that btw was not TAPS' discovery. The credit goes to OKPRI and their research.

Why am I posting this? First I am not sucking up to anyone. I was compelled to post a tidbit of truth about this questionable location. Outside of things being discovered at the property that could potentially lead to "rigged ghostly activity" which I am unable to attest to the case as it was told to me was strong enough for me to recognize and recap from my time spent at the Inn. Similarities to new discoveries linked to old "phenomenon" raise an eyebrow.

I am not attacking the Stone Lion Inn in Guthrie, Oklahoma I am posting a review, of a B&B and a paranormal site. Teams that in the future will blow their hard earned money in renting this B&B for the weekend, I would not recommend it. Just as I would not recommend paying the $1,000 rent to spend the night in Waverly Hills Sanitarium in Kentucky. It's expensive hype, ghost hunters & paranormal enthusiast, be aware of what you are buying into.

A quick tip about B&B's and how to spot a good one- check baseboards for dirt, check bathtubs and sinks. Pay attention to landscaping. Ask to get a tour of the kitchen area. You will be eating their food; this is your right as a consumer. They are licensed as a restaurant is, so check it out. Linens should always be clean and smell nice. The owner has nothing to "hide" and the entire property should be accessible outside of living quarters. If you visit a B&B write a review online so future guests can read it before spending the money.

A quick tip about purchasing ghost hunting locations- TALK TO OTHER TEAMS WHO HAVE ALREADY BEEN THERE AND ARE NOT AFFILIATED WITH THE PROPERTY.

I will be replacing our "investigation" of the Stone Lion Inn with this blog entry... so consumers can make up their minds on their own.

Last & Final  questions- Is the Stone Lion Inn "haunted"?

The GHOULI team believes that hauntings can be created over time. The power of belief and impression is strong and more real than most "ghosts". The GHOULI team was able to collect some EVP's and witness some paranormal activity while visiting the Stone Lion Inn, was it authentic? Yes & No. Make up your own mind about this local "hotspot".
